High Blood Pressure Simplified

What is High Blood Pressure?

High blood pressure might be mount during force enforced by flowing blood on the walls of artery as a normal response to tension and bodily work. However, if this pressure remains constantly high (high blood pressure as it is known), it can exhaust your heart and arteries. Hypertension causes heart attacks and strokes.

Checking Your Blood Pressure

Physicians measure blood pressure in two values, the systolic (the blood pressure as it passes the aorta from the heart) and the diastolic (the pressure when the heart ventricles relax between beats). Physicians measure it in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg).

Above the usual Blood Pressure can be explained in a mature person as a blood pressure higher or equable to 140 mm Hg systolic pressure, or above or equal to 90 mm Hg diastolic pressure. Reading of blood pressure greater than 140/90 is not normal & indicates hypertension.
